17th Raising Day of Village Defense Force Observed in Thoubal

Thoubal District Village Defence Force (VDF) celebrated 17th VDF Raising Day at the District Police Headquarters, Thoubal. The event witnessed the presence of SP Thoubal Manoj Prabhakar M, IPS,as cheif guest, president of Thoubal district VDF welfare Association Md.Idrish Shah as president while Thoubal district police Additional SP (LO) Miss Divya,IPS, Additional SP (ops) H.Devendra,MPS, as guest of honours respectively. Moreover, SDPO Thoubal Oinam Ajit, MPS, SDPO Yairipok Reema Haobam, MPS, Dy SP of Thoubal Commando N.Sadananda, MPS, District Headquarter Thoubal Dy SP Y.Sunanta, MPS, Thoubal Commando OC, six OCs of Thoubal district, Women Police Station Thoubal OC, Sub-Inspectors and Assistant sub-Inspectors also attended the event as special guests.

As a part of the event, floral tributes were paid to the late VDF personnels led by SP Thoubal. Band salute in honour of the deceased VDF personnels by VDF Band party Thoubal was also held. Further, gifts were presented to the bereaved VDF families. Appreciation certificates were also handed over to the selected VDF personnel. Speaking at the event, SP Thoubal Manoj Prabhakar M, IPS, praised VDF’s contributions to law and order, assuring support for their welfare. He highlighted their crucial role and encouraged dedication to their work.

Additional SP (LO) Divya IPS, noted that out of 3,000 personnel in Thoubal district police force, 1,800 are VDF members, emphasizing their significant contribution to public interaction and law enforcement.
Association president Md. Isrish Shah highlighted their efforts and sought government support for VDF welfare, emphasizing the need for medical and mental health support for members. He also mentioned the demands of VDF personnel, including increased honorarium and better facilities. He thanked the Governor of Manipur and Manipur government for enhancing the honorarium and assured that the association would continue to work closely with the police to maintain peace and order in the district.

He also announced that death benefit assistance provided to the bereaved families of VDF personnel under Thoubal district has been enhanced by Rs 50,000 thereby increasing the total amount upto Rs 3 laks.The same has been officially approved by SP Thoubal and the benefit will come into effect from this 17th VDF Raising Day celebration. Md. Idris also urged VDF personnel to remain committed to their duties and work together with the police to ensure the safety and security of the community.
