Assam Rifles organised a structured interaction meeting with representatives of multiple Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) at Nambol in Bishnupur district. The initiative aimed at enhancing civil-security cooperation, strengthening information exchange and promoting community-driven stability within the Nambol–Oinam area. The meeting witnessed the participation of 46 representatives including presidents and senior members from key organisations such as the Rising Sun Club, Youth Development Association, Pione
er Youth Association, Oinam Sports Association and Apunba Meira Paibi Lup representing various villages.
During the interaction, a detailed security overview was presented to highlight prevailing law and order dynamics along with emerging challenges like misinformation, drug abuse and anti-social activities. The discussions emphasised the vital role of CSOs as critical stakeholders acting as a bridge between security forces and the local population.
Focused deliberations were held on youth engagement through sports, skill development and awareness campaigns designed to prevent radicalisation and involvement with anti-social elements. Special attention was given to the role of women, particularly through the Apunba Meira Paibi Lup, in identifying social concerns and strengthening grassroots vigilance. The meeting also covered education initiatives and cyber safety awareness to counter the spread of rumours. Key outcomes included a proposal for nominating single points of contact from each organization and the joint execution of civic action programmes such as medical camps and educational support, said a press release of IGAR(S).
