In recognition of World TB Day, the Assam Rifles organized awareness programs in Tengnoupal and Kamjong districts to address tuberculosis (TB) challenges. These initiatives aimed to enhance public understanding of the health, social, and economic impacts of TB while encouraging efforts to eradicate the disease. Medical professionals discussed the disease’s significant public health implications, emphasizing its preventability and treatability. Key topics included common symptoms such as persistent cough, fever, weight loss, and fatigue, highlighting the importance of early detection and timely treatment. Preventive measures discussed included personal hygiene, proper household ventilation, and a balanced diet. The programs also aimed to reduce the stigma associated with TB, motivating individuals to seek help. Attendees were made aware of free diagnostic and treatment services provided by government healthcare initiatives, underscoring the importance of adhering to treatment protocols. The events were well attended, with participation from 31 Assam Rifles personnel and local civilians, facilitating fruitful discussions that helped dispel myths and promote collective responsibility in tackling TB.
