A one-day awareness programme on Eco-Tourism and its Economic Linkage was organized by the Central Forest Division of the Forest Department Manipur under the Raising and Accelerating MSME Performance (RAMP) Scheme at Lamdeng Mayai Leikai, Imphal West District. The event attracted 60 participants from various areas in Imphal West, including Lamdeng, Kameng, and Iroishemba, comprising local community members and youth entrepreneurs eager to explore eco-tourism as a livelihood option.
During the session, the focus was on understanding eco-tourism, its economic advantages, and its significance in sustainable development. Participants were educated on how community involvement can aid in conservation while providing income through tourism-related activities. Kiranjit Yumnam, Range Forest Officer of Sadar West, along with other experts, shared valuable insights regarding the potential of eco-tourism in Manipur, motivating local youth to leverage opportunities provided by the RAMP Scheme.
This programme is part of the Forest Department’s broader initiative to promote sustainable livelihoods and enhance community participation in conservation efforts.
