The birth centenary celebration of renowned literary figure Laishram Samarendra was held at the Library and Information Centre, Kakching, located at Phoushupat Leikai. The programme was jointly organised by the Laishram Samarendra Birth Centenary Celebration Committee in collaboration with Sahitya Seva Samiti Kakching, Macha Chanu Kakching, and Eramdam Khorjei Apunba Lup, Hiyanglam Wabagai. Among those present at the function were Vice President of Sahitya Seva Samiti Kakching, Mayanglambam Kunjakesho; President of Macha Chanu Kakching, Dr. Nongmaithem Pramodini; and Chairman of the Laishram Samarendra Birth Centenary Celebration Committee, Yengkhom Anilkumar. During the programme, Convenor of the Celebration Committee, Saratchand Thiyam, delivered the welcome address. Floral tributes were offered in honour of the late Laishram Samarendra. Dr. Ningombam Nando spoke on the life and contributions of Laishram Samarendra, highlighting his literary achievements and dedicated service to society. As part of the celebration, poets and students recited poems in tribute to the literary icon. The event concluded with the presentation of mementos to participants as a mark of appreciation.
