Budget Session Likely in Second Week of March: Dikho

Deputy Chief Minister Losii Dikho has disclosed that the budget session of Manipur Legislative Assembly is likely to be conducted in the second week of March. Dikho, who returned to the state capital after 4-day stay in New Delhi, told reporters, “The meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi was very positive. He was so happy to meet us”. Responding to a media query, Dikho said, “The budget session may likely happen in the second week of March.”

Dikho along with Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh and Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen met with several leaders in the national capital including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Minister of Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare and Rural Development Shivraj Singh Chouhan and BJP National President Nitin Nabin.

The three leaders had left Imphal on February 21 ahead of the much-anticipated cabinet expansion. On cabinet expansion, the Naga Peoples’ Front leader said it cannot be said as of now. “CM of Manipur, Shri @YKhemchandSingh, alongwith Deputy CMs, Smt. @KipgenNemcha, Shri Losii Dikho met Prime Minister @narendramodi,” the PMO wrote on X. The Chief Minister briefed Modi on the steps taken up by the new state government to bring peace and harmony in the state, a Manipur government release said, adding that he also urged the prime minister to take special care of women’s empowerment in both the hills and the valley. Meanwhile, BJP MLA T Robindro who also returned to Imphal from Delhi, has strongly condemned the racial abuse incident against three Arunachali woman in New Delhi.Robindro said, “I strongly condemn the racial tone. Authorities have taken step for that.”
