A joint river cleaning was carried out by Palem Panthou Village Level Federation in collaboration with Eco Network Manipur to remove waste and plastic from the Heirok Wangjing River in Heirok Part-I area.
Addressing the initiative, Eco Network Manipur President Shinthangamba Laishram urged the public to stop dumping household waste into the river and support proper waste collection for a cleaner environment. He appealed to the locals to collect waste properly and opt for household waste collection services instead of throwing waste products into water bodies. The drive, supported by Self Help Groups under the Manipur State Rural Livelihood Mission, aimed at restoring the river’s cleanliness through continued community participation. Organisers urged citizens to be responsible and not dump waste materials into the river so as to preserve clean and safe water for future generations.
