CM Briefed on Initiatives to Boost Agricultural Productivity

Officials of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), led by S. Basanta, Head of ICAR, Lamphel, met Chief Minister Y. Khemchand at the Secretariat, wherein the officials presented an overview of their ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity in the state.

Informing this in a social media post, Chief Minister Khemchand said, “Had a productive meeting today at the Secretariat with officials of ICAR, led by Shri S. Basanta, Head of ICAR, Lamphel, who called on me and presented an overview of their ongoing initiatives aimed at enhancing agricultural productivity in the State.”

The chief minister said, “With a strong network of Krishi Vigyan Kendras across all districts, ICAR continues to play a pivotal role in strengthening our agricultural ecosystem—promoting improved farming techniques, boosting rice productivity, supporting sustainable livelihoods, and addressing region-specific challenges through research and capacity building.”

“The Government of Manipur remains committed to working in close collaboration with ICAR to ensure food security, empower our farmers, and meet the growing demands of our population,” he added.

Chairman of ISKCON Manipur, Ekanath Das, along with his team of devoted bhaktas, also called on Chief Minister Khemchand at the Secretariat. The interaction focused on the development of Mani Mandir within the temple complex, a site of growing significance as both a pilgrimage destination and a tourist attraction in the state.

“The serene ambience of the ISKCON complex, enriched by daily kirtans and vibrant festival celebrations, continues to foster spiritual consciousness and a way of life rooted in devotion, harmony, and detachment from material excess. Such institutions play a vital role in promoting cultural heritage, spiritual well-being, and value-based living in society,” the chief minister said in another post.

Earlier, Chief Minister Khemchand attended the 32nd Annual Ritual Ceremony of Khwangjeng Lairemba Lairembi Haraoba at the District Police Headquarters Complex, Imphal West, an occasion imbued with deep sacredness and spiritual purity.

“This revered ritual, rooted in our rich cultural and spiritual heritage, is a solemn invocation of divine blessings for peace, protection, and harmony in the year ahead. It reflects our collective faith in seeking strength and guidance to ensure that our society remains safe, resilient, and free from turmoil,” the chief minister said.

“For generations, the revered deities have stood as our eternal guardians dispelling divisive forces, safeguarding our people, and nurturing an environment where unity, peace, and development can flourish,” he said.

“May their divine grace continue to guide Manipur towards enduring stability, harmony, and progress,” the chief minister wished.
