CM Khemchand Assures Full Security for Kuki-Zos Travelling to Imphal

Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh stated that the State Government would take responsibility for the safety of the people belonging to the Kuki-Zo community who visit Imphal, including medical treatment. The above statement was made during the flagging off programme of the project of “Strengthening of existing pavement from km 0.00 to km 15.35 and km 30.00 to km 45.00 of NH-137A (Imphal- Kakching Lamkhai section)” held today at the Langthabal Lep Makha Leikai, Imphal West. The project had been sanctioned by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH), Government of India. Speaking of the airlifting of MLA, Thanlon AC Vungzagin Valte from Bir Tikendrajit International Airport to New Delhi for medical treatment on Sunday afternoon, the Chief Minister extended his best wishes for speedy recovery of the MLA. Regarding the project being flagged off today, Yumnam Khemchand expressed hopefulness of timely completion and sincerity of the contractors. He further instructed the contractors to maintain quality of work and complete them on time. Replying to a query regarding the deadline for completion of the road project from the Chief Minister, the concerned contractors assured the crowd to complete the same before April-end.


Meanwhile, in his speech before the gathering, Minister Khuraijam Loken Singh praised the Chief Minister for his initiative to commence the highway strengthening work, which, he said, had been left unattended for a very long time. The Minister further urged the people of the State to avoid causing any hindrance to the developmental works being taken up.The new government will give utmost priority to the resettlement of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and restoring peace, he added, while seeking support from the public. The flagging off programme, organised by the Public Works Department, Government of Manipur was also attended by Minister Konthoujam Govindas Singh, MLAs, Chief Secretary, Manipur Dr. Puneet Kumar Goel, Commissioner to Chief Minister N. Ashok Kumar, Deputy Commissioner, Imphal West District Mayanglambam Rajkumar, Chief Engineer, Public Works Department Chongtham Biswachandra Singh and officials of Works Department among others.
