A protest demonstration was staged on Sunday at the historic Koirengei Airfield in Imphal East, demanding the preservation and protection of the landmark site. The demonstration was organised by the Campaign for Protection and Preservation of Koirengei Airfield (CPPKAF). A large number of participants assembled at the airfield holding placards and banners emphasising the historical importance of the site. The demonstrators raised slogans such as “Koirengei Airfield is where history was created,” “Koirengei Airfield is the Pride of Manipur,” and “Save our Heritage.” During the protest, the participants appealed to the authorities as well as the public to take urgent and responsible measures to safeguard the airfield. They stressed that the site holds immense historical value and remains an important heritage landmark for the people of Manipur. The demonstrators further stated that protecting Koirengei Airfield is essential for preserving the rich historical legacy and cultural identity of the state.
