Crackdown Continues: Three UG Cadres Held with Arms

Manipur Police conducted a successful operation resulting in the arrest of two members from the KCP (MC Progressive) group at the Palace Gate area in Imphal East district. The individuals, identified as Akhom David Singh @ Atomba (24) and Potshangbam Johnson Singh @ Abungo (25), are both residents of Bishnupur district but were residing in Khumbong Khaidem Awang Leikai, Patsoi-PS, Imphal West at the time of their arrest. Authorities seized two mobile phones from them during the operation.

In a related incident, security forces apprehended another militant from the PREPAK (Pro) [G-5] faction, identified as Yumnam Panchayaiphaba Meitei @ Yaikhomba (30), at his home in Nongada Awang Leikai, also in Imphal East district. His possession included a mobile phone.

Additionally, a search operation in Saikul village, under Churachandpur PS, led to the recovery of several weapons and ammunition. The haul included one automatic rifle with an empty magazine, a local-made bolt action rifle, a .22 caliber pistol along with its magazine, a home-made revolver with six rounds, three improvised explosive devices (IEDs), five live rounds of 7.62 mm SLR, and a pair of boots.

Moreover, in another operation in the general area of Tarao Lamkhai under Tengnoupal-PS, security forces recovered three improvised mortars of Pompi, one IED, three hand grenades, and a Walkie-Talkie set with its charger. These operations reflect the ongoing efforts by security forces to combat insurgency and recover illegal arms in the region.
