Directorate of Craftsmen Training Organizes PM-NAPS Workshop

The Directorate of Craftsmen Training (DCT), Manipur, under the Skill, Labour, Employment & Entrepreneurship (SLEE) Department, Government of Manipur, organized an ongoing workshop on Prime Minister’s National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (PM-NAPS) at the Kakching Municipal Council auditorium, Kakching District. The programme conducted under the overall supervision of N. Bandana Devi, IAS, Secretary, SLEE Department, Government of Manipur, was organised by the Directorate of Craftsmen Training under the guidance of Longjam Subhaschandra Singh, Joint Director (HOD), DCT, Manipur. The workshop aimed at creating awareness among establishments, institutions, and youth about apprenticeship opportunities under PM-NAPS, which combines on-the-job training with classroom instruction. The scheme provides financial support to establishments by reimbursing a portion of the stipend paid to apprentices and promotes active participation of both public and private sector establishments.

The workshop featured short video presentations, a technical expert’s address on skill development and industry requirements, and interactive sessions with establishments, college students, and ITI trainees. The sessions highlighted apprenticeship opportunities, registration procedures, and the benefits available under PM-NAPS. The initiative aims to enhance employability, strengthen industry-institution linkage, and promote apprenticeship engagement in Kakching District. The initiative is expected to strengthen apprenticeship engagement in Kakching District and contribute towards creating a skilled and employable workforce in line with national skill development goals.
