A first aid training programme was organised at Heirok Part II, Litan by Ningol Club and Humanity Service Foundation, in collaboration with BABINA Hospital, with support from EcoNetwork Manipur. The training session was conducted by Dr. Lakshmi Kangjam, Consultant in Emergency Medicine, BABINA Hospital. During the programmer, Dr. Kangjam explained that the training focused on Basic Life Support (BLS) and CPR (Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation), which are crucial life-saving techniques. The session highlighted how first aid can be provided to patients in emergency situations—such as sudden collapse—before reaching a hospital. The participants were trained to identify the symptoms of heart attack, cardiac arrest and stroke, and were guided on the immediate steps to be taken during such emergencies. Practical demonstrations were also given on how to respond effectively during a heart attack and how to assist a person suffering from stroke.
Speaking at the occasion, Moirangthem Inunganbi Chanu, General Secretary of Ningol Club, stated that First Aid and CPR are essential life skills, and awareness and training in these areas are extremely important for the community. She expressed gratitude to BABINA Hospital for extending their support and thanked Dr. Lakshmi Kangjam for willingly sharing her expertise. She further informed that similar training programmes will be organised in the future at different locations. The training programme featured Dr. Lakshmi Kangjam, Consultant, Emergency Medicine, BABINA Hospital, and Sanathoi Moirangthem, Nursing Educator, as resource persons. Around 30 participants took part in the programmer.
