To promote the accessibility of affordable healthcare, the Pradhan Mantri Bharatiya Jan Aushadhi Kendra (PMBJK), Chingmeirong, organised a mass awareness rally today as a part of weeklong celebrations to highlight the benefits of high-quality generic medicines. The rally was officially flagged off by former Chief Minister Radhabinod Koijam, from the Chingmeirong Khongnang Ani Karak junction. Participants marched through a route extending toward the Kangla Fort and returning via the Assembly Road, concluding back at the starting point.
Addressing the gathering upon the rally’s return, Radhabinod Koijam emphasized the pivotal role Jan Aushadhi Kendras play in reducing the financial burden of healthcare on the public. “These centers ensure that no citizen is deprived of essential treatment due to high costs. The medicines provided here undergo rigorous testing to ensure they match the quality of expensive branded alternatives,” the Former CM stated. He further noted the growing network of these centers across the state and urged the public to utilize these facilities to ensure “Health for All.”
The event featured a moving address by Mrs. Thoithoi, popularly known as Mombi in Manipuri cinema, and a regular beneficiary of the Jan Aushadhi scheme. She shared her personal experience, detailing how the availability of low-cost, effective medication at the Kendra has significantly improved her family’s well-being and financial stability. Her testimony served as a powerful reminder of the real-world impact of the PMBJK initiative.
