Manipur Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla has said that peace and normalcy are returning to the state after ethnic violence in the region has left many dead and thousands homeless. The government, armed forces, and civil society organizations have collaborated to recover firearms and ammunition, arrest insurgents involved in extortion, and establish multiple checkpoints for essential supplies. The governor also announced that dialogue with civil society organizations is underway for voluntary resettlement and inclusive safety guarantees. Manipur has been under President N Biren Singh’s rule since February 2023.
