House Passes ₹5,471.91 Crore Demand for Grants

The 7th Session of the 12th Manipur Legislative Assembly continued with discussions and voting on 14 Demands for Grants for the financial year 2026–27. Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh presented the demands, which totaled Rs 54,719,120,000 for various departments including State Legislature, Police, Public Works, and more. Specific allocations included Rs 34,910,690,000 for the State Legislature and Rs 3,183,974,900,000 for the Police. The demands were approved to cover expenditures until March 31, 2027. Additionally, three reports were tabled, and cut motions on several demands were raised by MLA K. Meghachandra Singh. The Chief Minister addressed questions regarding the completion of census listings and the filling of vacant posts in the Arts and Culture Department, while Home Minister Govindas Konthoujam provided updates on measures to address illegal immigration and drug-related issues. The session concluded with the passage of the Manipur Appropriation (No.1) Bill, 2026, and was adjourned until the next sitting.
