Huma Qureshi is having quite the moment. Not only did her film Bayaan premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival 2025, where she made her debut as both a performer and an executive producer, but there appears to be some greater news off-screen. According to a source close to the couple, Huma is engaged to long-rumored boyfriend Rachit Singh, an acting coach. Huma and Rachit had been a couple for a time. On Sunday, he proposed to her in an intimate proposal, which she accepted. It was a close-knit affair in the United States. They have yet to decide when they want to make it official by announcing it publicly,” the person said.
Rumours regarding Huma’s relationship with Rachit gathered steam after their common friend, musician Akasa Singh, uploaded a candid selfie of the two of them. The caption reads, “Congratulations on your tiny slice of heaven with the best name, Huma. “Had the best night,” Akasa’s remark immediately sent tongues talking.
Not long after, Huma and Rachit attended Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal’s wedding, dressed in pink. Their chemistry was undeniable, and admirers instantly became internet detectives attempting to identify the mystery man by her side. Most recently, the couple was seen together again during Rachit’s exclusive birthday celebrations, sparking suspicion of their engagement.
Rachit is not new to the industry. He is most known for training artists such as Alia Bhatt, Ranveer Singh, and Vicky Kaushal. He made his acting debut in the series Karmma Calling. His strong relationship with Huma has been a source of concern for some time; the two were also sighted together at Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan’s Ed Sheeran party in March 2024, where they appeared to be particularly at ease with one another. Before Singh, Huma had a long-term relationship with filmmaker Mudassar Aziz, which dissolved in 2022.
Despite all of the talk about her personal life, Huma remains focused on her career. Speaking to HTCity about Bayaan’s TIFF premiere, she remarked, “I saw it as a film that I connected with. The film has always had the potential to be an India-centric story with a global perspective. I’m glad the picture is being shown at TIFF and the Busan International picture Festival. I’ve always wanted to work on a global scale, telling Indian stories all around the world. The stories are Indian, but the method is global.
