In line with the global observance of International Women’s Day under the theme “Rights, Justice, Action for All Women and Girls,” a commemorative program was held at Lamjao Mayai Leikai Community Hall under Kakching district.
The event was jointly organized by the Kakching District Bar Association (KDBA) and Lamjao Part 1 Development Association.
Khundrakpam Hemabati, Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Kakching (MPS), attended the program as the chief guest. The function was presided over by Thounaojam Mema, Vice President of Lamjao Apunba Meira Paibee Lup.
Guests of honor included Vice Presidents of the same organization, Yumnam Bidyapati and Urikhinbam Shantibala, along with secretaries Sorolhaibam Inaobi Devi, Mayengbam Memcha Leima, and Urikhinbam Sanajaobi.
During the program, Senior Advocate Nongmaithem Madhu, President of the Kakching District Bar Association, delivered the keynote address.
Advocate Kshetrimayum Sarankumari spoke as a resource person on the issue of domestic violence against women, while Advocate Taibangjam Geetdev Meitei delivered a presentation on the Prohibition of Child Marriage Act.
The program highlighted legal awareness and the importance of safeguarding the rights and dignity of women and girls.
