JAK Fetes Winner of Miss Grand Manipur Title

A felicitation ceremony was held in honour of Babina Thokchom, who recently won the title of Miss Grand Manipur 2026. She is set to represent Manipur at the upcoming Miss Grand National Beauty Pageant scheduled to be held in April this year in Jaipur. The event is being organised by Star Entertainment Production. The felicitation programme was organised by the Juvenile Association Kakching at the club’s premises on Sunday. The event was attended by the President of the Juvenile Association Kakching, Kshetrimayum Ibobi, and the President of the Rajdhani Pareng Development Committee, Shougaijam Birlal, among others. Speaking at the programme, Babina shared her journey and experiences. She completed her MA from Manipur University and is currently preparing as a UPSC aspirant while undergoing coaching at the Dr. Ambedkar Centre of Excellence for UPSC Coaching, Manipur University. She stated that beyond academics, she has always been motivated to contribute to society and use public platforms to spread awareness on important social issues, which inspired her to participate in beauty pageants.

Babina highlighted that her path was not easy. Coming from a humble background, she and her family faced several financial challenges. However, with determination and hard work, she overcame the obstacles and succeeded in winning the title. She expressed heartfelt gratitude to everyone who supported and encouraged her throughout her journey. She further mentioned that in today’s digital age, misinformation spreads rapidly on social media, often affecting individuals and society negatively. Emphasizing the importance of responsible online behavior, she stated that she would focus on raising awareness about cyberbullying and mental health issues through her participation in the pageant. Babina Thokchom is the daughter of Thokchom Noren and Thokchom Ongbi Sumita of Kakching Makha Leikai. Her parents earn their livelihood through pickle-making. She completed her Class X from Martin Grammar English School and Class XII from Comet School, Changangei. She graduated from Dhanamanjuri College. Previously, she won the titles of Miss Dhanamanjuri 2019 and Manfete Queen 1st Runner-Up 2019.
