Kangpokpi Addl DC Chairs Road Safety Committee Meeting

The District Administration, Kangpokpi, under the leadership of Additional Deputy Commissioner N Shokhongam Baite MCS, chaired the Quarterly District-Level Compliance Review Meeting on the implementation of directions issued by the Supreme Court Committee on Road Safety (SCCoRS) at the Conference Hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, Kangpokpi.

During the meeting, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADM) highlighted key initiatives undertaken in the district and urged concerned officials, along with the State Police Department and Central forces, to strengthen coordination in order to further improve frisking and helmet checking along the National Highway. He also directed officials from the Public Works Department (PWD), NHIDCL, and the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) to jointly identify unsafe bridges, bridges requiring restoration, and vulnerable PMGSY road stretches. They were instructed to submit a detailed report to the Deputy Commissioner in compliance with IRC standards. District Transport officials also submitted relevant data, and ADM requested the District Police to provide data related to accidents, frisking, and other related matters.

The ADM further sought clarification on whether zebra crossings in the town fall under the jurisdiction of the PWD or the DTO and was informed that it is the responsibility of NHIDCL. Accordingly, he requested the concerned officials to take the necessary action. The meeting was attended by Lamminlal Simte, MCS, AC to DC; Len Singsit, MCS, SDO Island, Samuel Misao MCS, SDO, Lhungtin; SDO’s, DLO’s, amongst others.
