The District Administration of Kangpokpi, under the leadership of Deputy Commissioner Mahesh Chaudhari, IAS, held a review meeting on Monday to take stock of the progress and challenges in the implementation of the Prime Minister’s Development of Agriculture, Jobs, and Growth for Upliftment of Adivasis (PM-DAJGUA) scheme. The initiative is aimed at promoting holistic tribal welfare and development across the district. Chaired by the DC, the meeting brought together senior officials including N. Shokngam Baite, ADM, MCS; James Doujapao, MCS SH-ADC; Lamminlal Simte, MCS SDO Champhai; along with other Sub-Divisional Officers (SDOs) and District Level Officers (DLOs). The discussions focused on reviewing the current status of projects, identifying bottlenecks, and chalking out a clear roadmap to ensure timely delivery of benefits.
During the deliberations, Chaudhari stressed the need for all line departments to complete their assessments and submit project proposals by September 29. He issued a stern warning that delays beyond the deadline would not be tolerated. “This scheme is meant to directly uplift tribal communities by addressing their core developmental needs. We cannot afford unnecessary delays. Departments must ensure their proposals are ready and complete within the given timeframe,” he said. The DC placed special emphasis on infrastructure development, particularly roads and healthcare facilities, as these are seen as key drivers of tribal welfare. He urged departments to speed up work on pending road projects under the Prime Minister’s PVTG Development Mission (PMPSY) and ensure that healthcare facilities are expanded to reach remote and underserved areas.
Another highlight of the review was the announcement of upcoming training sessions for Adi Karmayogi, an initiative to provide skill-based, practical training to villagers. Chaudhari directed the appointment of qualified trainers who could provide hands-on guidance to ensure that local youth and farmers are equipped with employable skills. In addition, the Deputy Commissioner stressed the importance of the Panchayat Advancement Index, a tool to assess the performance and efficiency of local self-governments. He directed the Rural Development & Panchayati Raj (RD&PR) department, along with SDOs, to finalize their reports and submit them without delay. The meeting concluded with a clear message from the district administration: implementation of PM-DAJGUA must be timely, transparent, and effective to achieve the goal of holistic development in Kangpokpi district. By setting strict deadlines and pushing for accountability, the administration hopes to bring measurable changes in infrastructure, employment generation, and healthcare for tribal communities.
