Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh today inspected the rejuvenation work of Imphal River being carried out at different sites along the river. The rejuvenation work is taken up as a project to make the river water clean and reduce its Biochemical Oxygen Demand (BOD). The Chief Minister took stock of the ongoing eco-embankment work being constructed along the Imphal River near the Lamlong bridge. The eco-embankment work is taken up, stretching a span of 100 meters as a pilot project, to reduce the bank erosion and improve water quality. During the inspection, Yumnam Khemchand was accompanied by Principal Secretary, Forest, Environment and Climate Change Arun Kumar Sinha, Director, Environment and Climate Change Dr. T. Brajakumar Singh and other concerned officials.
He also visited Khurai Salanthong and inspected the development work taken up at Pangei road. He directed the implementing agency to expedite the development work for timely completion and to ease the hardship faced by the public due to bad road conditions. Earlier, the Chief Minister visited Singjamei Oinam Thingel and inspected the ongoing embankment wall construction along the Imphal River.
