Legal awareness and drug-free Yaoshang programmes were conducted in several parts of Bishnupur district. In connection with the just concluded Yaoshang festival, the District Legal Services Authority Bishnupur, in collaboration with Legal Aid Clinics Toubul and Thanga Karang, which are working in various areas of Bishnupur District, conducted extensive legal awareness programs in several places of the district, including community halls where people celebrate Yaoshang sports, and Relief Camps. The programmes were conducted with the support of the clubs of those areas. Under the guidance of the National Legal Services Authority (NALSA) and Manipur State Legal Services Authority (MASLSA), panel lawyers and Para Legal Volunteers delivered speeches on topics such as the “Prohibition of Child Marriage Act, Crime against Women, POCSO, Women Victim Compensation, Drug Abuse…” and educated the public.
In addition to specific awareness programs in places like ECHO Club of Bishnupur Ward No. 8, Moirang Khunou Mayai Leikai Relief Camp, Takmu Watersports Complex Relief Camp, Moirangkhunou Mamang Sabal Relief Camp, Toubul Makha Leikai, and Yenning Foundation Rehabilitation Centre, sports events were also organized. At Toubul and Moirang Khunou Mayai Relief Camp, a “Run for Drug-Free Yaoshang” and “Yaoshang for Drug-Free” programs were organized, featuring races, public gatherings, and football and volleyball matches.
