World Poetry Day was observed in Wangjing by the Khorirol Sandok-lup Wangjing and Manipuri Sahitya Parishad Thoubal district branch, focusing on the theme of “Unity, Peace, and Cultural Expression through Verse.” The event featured key figures such as Vice-President Yumnam Esheihenbi Devi as Chief Guest and notable speakers including Dr. Sanasam Nabadweep, who highlighted the importance of poetry in human development and education. Discussions on “Literature and Society” by Tongbram Babulal and “Modern Manipuri Poetry” by Nongthombam Sanjib emphasized the relationship between literature and societal changes. In addition to poetry recitations by over 15 poets, similar observances took place in Lois Kakching hall and at a private residence in Kakching, showcasing the significance of the day through participation from various literary groups and officials. The events featured various guest speakers who reinforced the relevance of poetry in culture and education.
