LTIMindtree bags $330 million contract from central tax department to upgrade tax analytics platform with AI

LTIMindtree Ltd has secured a major contract worth ₹3,000 crore ($332 million) from the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), marking its third-largest order in the past year. The engagement involves developing an AI-driven program to modernize India’s national tax analytics platform, according to a stock exchange filing on Friday.

This seven-year project underscores LTIMindtree’s expertise in digital transformation, advanced IT architecture, and data analytics, enabling real-time insights for policymakers. It is the company’s second assignment from the central tax authority in under a year, following a ₹792 crore ($87 million) project awarded in August 2025 to upgrade India’s PAN infrastructure. Under these contracts, LTIMindtree will design, build, and manage the backend IT systems, including security, automation, and operations.

The deal is an early win for CEO Venu Lambu, who took charge in June 2025, and it is expected to contribute up to 3.3% incremental growth from these contracts. Shares of LTIMindtree rose 4.89% to ₹6,325 on Friday. Amid slowing IT demand, global market uncertainties, and AI disruptions, such large government contracts could help offset potential revenue pressures, reinforcing the company’s strategic position in India’s IT services sector.
