Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh is set to attend the inauguration of a statue honoring freedom fighter Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh, on Thursday, commemorating Patel’s birth anniversary with a powerful tribute to national unity. The event will also unveil the Major Ralengnao Bob Khating Museum of Valor, dedicated to the legacy of the late Major. Singh joined Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju in discussions with Governor KT Parnaik, underscoring a united commitment to India’s historical integrity.
In a social media post, Singh shared his reflections from Tawang, highlighting meaningful exchanges with Rijiju and Khandu and emphasizing the celebration of national unity. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also observed National Unity Day at the Statue of Unity in Kevadia, Gujarat, where he honored Patel’s contributions, administered the Unity Oath, and led the Unity Day Parade. Reflecting on Patel’s legacy, Modi remarked, “Protecting the unity and sovereignty of the nation was his top priority; his life’s work will continue to inspire future generations.”
Patel, born on October 31, 1875, in Gujarat, played a pivotal role in uniting over 560 princely states into the Republic of India, later serving as the country’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister. Since 2014, National Unity Day has been marked nationwide with “Run for Unity” events, celebrating Patel’s enduring influence on India’s unity.
