Manipur Minister sends missing person’s documents to PMO, urges action on military station disappearance

Manipur’s Social Welfare Minister Heikham Dingo confirmed on Friday that all relevant documents regarding the disappearance of Laishram Kamalbabu Singh, who allegedly went missing from the Leimakhong Military Station, have been sent to the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO), as well as to the offices of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah.

Singh, a works supervisor for a contractor at the Military Engineering Services in Leimakhong, Kangpokpi district, had been missing since November 25. According to the Army, Singh, originally from Assam’s Cachar district and residing in Imphal West, vanished from the 57th Mountain Division’s secured location.”We have sent all the necessary documents to the PMO, and the offices of the defence minister and home minister. We are waiting for a response. The Army should be held accountable, as he went missing from a highly secured military station. It is truly unfortunate,” Minister Dingo stated during a programme on Friday.

Meanwhile, local residents of Kanto Sabal, located about 3 km from the military station, continued their protest, urging the government to take stronger action to locate the missing man, who is from the Metei community. Police reported on Monday that the Army had deployed over 2,000 personnel, drones, and tracker dogs to search for Singh.
