Four Members of the Legislative Assembly (MLAs) from Manipur met Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla at Raj Bhavan on Monday to discuss urgent issues related to the state’s border areas. The delegation included Naga People’s Front MLAs Awangbou Newmai, Khashim Vashum, and Leishiyo Keishing, along with Independent MLA J. Kumo Sha.
The legislators expressed concerns about the ongoing border fencing operations and their impact on the Free Movement Regime (FMR), which allows local communities to move freely across designated border areas. They highlighted how these developments are affecting the lives and livelihoods of people residing near the international boundary.
During the meeting, the MLAs urged Governor Bhalla to take immediate steps to intervene and facilitate dialogue among all stakeholders. Their goal is to find peaceful and community-friendly solutions that respect the interests of the local population while maintaining harmony and security along the border.
