Manipur Pays Tribute to Martyrs on Shaheed Diwas

Manipur commemorated Martyrs’ Day, also known as Shaheed Diwas, on the occasion of the 78th Death Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, who is revered as the Father of the Nation for his pivotal role in the country’s struggle for independence. The observance was spearheaded by the Governor of Manipur, Ajay Kumar Bhalla, who served as the Chief Guest at the ceremony where he led attendees in honoring the sacrifice of those who fought for the nation by laying a wreath at Gandhi’s statue at Gandhi Memorial Hall in Imphal. The event was attended by notable figures including members of the Legislative Assembly, the Chief Secretary, Security Advisor, Director General of Police, and other senior civil and police officials, all of whom paid their respects to Gandhi’s enduring legacy of truth and non-violence. To further mark the occasion, participants engaged in singing bhajans and observed a two-minute silence in tribute to the memory of the departed freedom fighters, reflecting a collective acknowledgment of their contributions to the nation’s freedom.
