Manipur Police have apprehended a member of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (Progressive Wing Group), marking a significant step in the ongoing crackdown on insurgency in the state. The militant, identified as 25-year-old Wangmayum Muktajuddin, alias Amuba, was arrested on February 15 during a targeted operation in the Khabeisoi Maning Leikai area under the Heingang police station’s jurisdiction in Imphal East district.
According to police sources, Muktajuddin was allegedly involved in a series of extortion activities that targeted local residents, businesses, and government officials. His arrest is seen as a key development in efforts to curb criminal activities associated with the proscribed KCP(PWG) militant group.
The KCP(PWG) has been declared a banned organization due to its involvement in extortion, threats, and other criminal activities. The Manipur Police’s recent success in detaining members of such outfits highlights the state’s ongoing efforts to restore peace and security in the region.
