Gurgaon-based Medanta – The Medicity, India’s Best Private Hospital for six consecutive years according to Newsweek, has launched an educational video promoting a simple three-minute self-breast examination, combining life-saving awareness with preventive healthcare opportunities. The initiative is part of the hospital’s “Jaanta Hai Medanta” campaign, aimed at driving action against breast cancer and encouraging women to take charge of their health.
The video features Dr. Kanchan Kaur, Senior Director, Breast Cancer at Medanta, demonstrating a three-step self-exam procedure to be performed monthly, ideally 2–3 days after menstruation. The method involves checking the breast and armpit with light pressure in circular and up-and-down motions, while observing for lumps, skin changes, or nipple deformities. “Regular self-exams can detect cancer early, improving treatment outcomes and survival rates,” Dr. Kaur emphasized.
The initiative is resonating strongly with women and local healthcare providers. Clinics and diagnostic centers report increasing footfalls for preventive check-ups, while pharmacies are actively promoting awareness campaigns. This growing engagement reflects the city’s rising interest in proactive health measures and presents a tangible market opportunity for preventive healthcare services. With breast cancer remaining the most common cancer among Indian women, Medanta’s campaign combines personal empowerment with market potential, highlighting the critical intersection of health awareness and business impact in India’s healthcare sector.
