Mega Sundays on Cycle Held to Mark International Women’s Day

The Mega Sundays on Cycle – International Women’s Day Special was celebrated at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex, Imphal, organized by the Sports Authority of India, North-East Regional Centre (SAI NERC) under the nationwide Fit India Movement.

Over a thousand participants,organized including athletes, students, dignitaries participants,dignitaries,and members of the public dignitaries,public,gathered for the event, promoting the message of fitness and active living on the occasion of International Women’s Day.

The programpublic,programme was attended by Hon’ble Home programthe HonorableMinister of Manipur and Minister of Youth Affairs, Government of Manipur, Shri Konthoujam Govindas, along with officials from the state sports administration the Honorableadministration,including the Sports Secretary, Government of Manipur,administration,Manipur; Director, Youth Affairs and Sports, Manipur Manipur;Manipur;and Hon’ble Vice-Manipur;the HonorableChancellor, Manipur University the HonorableUniversity,Shri N. Lokendra Singh.

The event also witnessed the presence of several eminent sportspersons from Manipur, including Padmashree and Arjuna Awardee Smt. Nameirakpam Kunjarani Devi, Arjuna Awardee Smt. Organized in commemoration of International Women’s Day, the initiative aimed to highlight the role of sports and fitness in empowering communities and encouraging greater participation of women and youth in physical activities.

The Mega Sundays on Cycle event also marked the beginning of the Fit India Carnival in Imphal, scheduled to be held on March 9 and 10, 2026, at Hapta Kangjeibung, Palace Compound, where a range of fitness sessions, activity zones, traditional sports showcases, and cultural performances will take place for the public.
