Meitei Eikhoi Punsinsi (MEIPUN), a social organization committed to supporting vulnerable and distressed individuals, extended financial assistance to a needy family at Salungpham Maning Leikai under the Thoubal district.
The assistance was provided to Naorem Ongbi Madhabi, a 75-year-old woman, and her son Naorem Inaocha, who is unable to work owing to a serious health condition. The team handed over a sum of Rs.10,000 as immediate financial aid to support the family during their hardship.
It may be mentioned that Naorem Inaocha had earlier met with a severe accident of falling from a tree a few years ago, leaving him physically incapacitated and unable to earn a livelihood. Due to lack of financial resources, he has not been able to undergo proper medical treatment. His young daughter has also been unable to continue her education as the family struggles to meet basic needs.
With Madhabi being the sole caregiver in the family despite her frail condition, the household has been facing extreme hardship. In the absence of any regular income or external support, the family has been living in distress.
A youth from Heirok, Khundrakpam Thoungamba, has reportedly been extending whatever possible help to the family out of compassion.
The MEIPUN team was led by senior members Rajendro Pangambam and Keke Wahengbam. Other members present during the visit included Bobo Khundrakpam, Leo Nameirakpam, Khoimu Thounaojam, Hijam Ajem, Sangita Khoirom, Roji Brahmachari, and Joymati Irom.
Speaking at the occasion, MEIPUN members appealed to the general public to come forward and extend support to families facing similar distress, emphasizing the importance of collective responsibility and humanitarian assistance in society.
