Priyanka Chopra has evolved from being a less recognized action star in India to gaining prominence in Hollywood. She began her U.S. career with the role of a spy in the series Quantico and continued to take on significant action roles in shows like Citadel and in films such as Heads of State alongside John Cena and Idris Elba. Recently, Prime Video released the trailer for The Bluff, an action thriller directed by Frank E Flowers, in which Chopra portrays a lethal character who risks her life to protect her daughter against dire odds, particularly with Karl Urban’s character, a feared pirate, placing a bounty on her head.
The trailer depicts Priyanka having a serene evening with her daughter in a secluded location until she feels an imminent threat. After hiding her daughter in the basement, Priyanka confronts the intruders but is overpowered and nearly succumbs to defeat. However, when the attackers threaten her daughter, her maternal instincts kick in, driving her to fight back and brutally eliminate the men who invaded her home.
In a moment of reassurance amidst chaos, a mother tells her daughter, “I’m still your mother,” after the daughter expresses her shock at the violence. The daughter questions the mother about her lethal skills, to which the mother responds playfully, referencing that her husband chose her for more than just culinary skills.
Set in the 19th-century Caribbean, The Bluff centers on a former female pirate who confronts the repercussions of her past while safeguarding her family. Produced by Russo Brothers’ AGBO Studios and Amazon MGM Studios, it will premiere on Prime Video on February 25, reuniting Priyanka after Citadel.
