A combined team of security forces and forest department destroyed 80 acres of illegal poppy plantation at Sihai hill range under Ukhrul-PS, Ukhrul district. Ten huts found at the plantation sites were burnt and destroyed. Another combined team of security forces and forest department along with Executive Magistrate also destroyed 3 acres of illegal poppy plantation at Lakhamai hills under Phaibung-PS, Senapati district. Three huts found at the plantation sites were burnt and destroyed. On the other hand, security forces intercepted a four-wheeler, an A-Star bearing Regd. No. UP-32DS-2851 at Lilong Alia Lamkhai under Lilong-PS, Thoubal district and arrested its occupant, identified as Md. Abbas Ahamed (42) along with brown sugar. From his possession, 1.543 kg of brown sugar and a four-wheeler car were recovered.
