Under the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY) scheme, post-operative check-ups for five cataract patients from Sugnu were conducted yesterday, organised by the District Social Welfare Office (DSWO) under the overall supervision of the District Administration Kakching These five patients were identified during the cataract detection and surgery camp held on December 24, 2025, as part of the Good Governance Week. The cataract surgeries for the patients were carried out yesterday at the Kakching Eye Hospital. Also, pre-operative medical examinations were conducted today for another five patients identified during the cataract detection and surgery camp held on December 22, 2025, at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex, Kakching. The cataract surgeries for the patients have been scheduled for tomorrow. It may be mentioned that special drives for cataract detection and surgery for senior citizens under the AVYAY scheme were organised earlier by the District Social Welfare Office, Kakching in collaboration with the Medilane Foundation, Imphal Eye Clinic and Kakching Eye Hospital. The camps were held at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex, Kakching on December 22, 2025; at KBM Kakching Khunou and Sugnu Municipality Office, Sugnu Bazar on December 24, 2025.
