With search operations continuing in different parts of the State, security forces recovered arms and ammunition from the general area of Chakpikarong-Mombi-Joupi junction road near Mombi under Molcham-PS, Chandel district on Monday. The recovered weapons include one AK47 along with two magazines, six single barrel rifles, three Improvised mortars (pompi), one grenade with detonator, 35 rounds of 7.62 mm calibers, and three Baofeng Radio sets with three chargers. On the same day, security forces also recovered weapons from Kaikao area under Tamenglong-PS, Tamenglong district. The seized arms are one country made 9mm Carbine along with magazine, two countries made 9mm pistols along with magazine, two countries made 12 bore Single Barrel guns, two countries made Lathod gun, one country made Muzzle loaded gun, and four 9 mm live rounds.
Security forces also recovered arms and ammunition from the general area of Maohing under Kangpokpi-PS, Kangpokpi district. They recovered 12 Bolt Action single barrel guns, one AK 47 rifle along with magazine, one .303 rifle along with magazine, one local made pistol along with magazine, nine live rounds ammunition of different calibers, one local made Canon (Pumpi), four local made bolt action rifles, four local made bolt action single barrels, and four Baofeng wireless sets along with two chargers.
Meanwhile, security forces launched operation in Thoyee Tangkhul area as well as in Zalenbung and Shangkai area under Litan-PS, Ukhrul district. During the operation, twenty-three bunkers were destroyed and twenty-five empty cases were recovered. Security forces continued to conduct search operations and area domination in the fringe and vulnerable areas across districts, resulting in recovery of arms, ammunition and explosives. A total of 114 Nakas/Check points were installed in different districts, both in the hills and the valley.
