In observance of World Kidney Day 2026, a health campIn cum Organ Donation Awareness Campaignhealth camporgan donation awareness campaign was successfully organizedorgan donation awareness campaign at Wainem Rongmei Naga Village and Bungte Chiru, Nambol, Bishnupur district organizedDistrict,under the theme “Kidney Health for All: Caring for People, Protecting the Planet.” The programDistrict,programme was organisedprogramorganized by the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, with the objective of promoting awareness on kidney health and providing essential healthcare services to rural communities.
During the camp, specialist doctors from multiple departments organizeddepartments,including Medicine, Paediatricsdepartments,Pediatrics,, Obstetrics & Gynecology,Pediatrics,Surgery, Orthopedics,Orthopedics, Dermatology, and ENT, provided free OPD consultations and medical check-ups. Around 150 patients from the surrounding villages availed themselves of the healthcare services, receiving medical advice, treatment, and necessary medications.
As part of the program, an awareness session on organ and tissue donation was conducted by healthcare professionals. Informational pamphlets on organ donation and transplantation were distributed to educate the public about the importance of organ donation, early detection of kidney diseases, and the benefits of adopting healthy lifestyles.
Free medicines were also distributed to the patients during the health camp. The event was supported by organizers and volunteers from the villages, and Prof. Ranjan Gondamei of IIT Roorkee was among the hosts coordinating the overall health camp program.
The initiative witnessed active participation from local residents, who appreciated the efforts of the medical team in bringing specialized healthcare services directly to their villages. The outreach program reflects the continued commitment of RIMS Imphal to promote community health, increase awareness about organ donation, and strengthen preventive healthcare in rural areas of Manipur.
