Rocket strike in Manipur village kills two children, heightens tension in Bishnupur

Fresh violence has once again disturbed peace in Manipur after a suspected militant attack killed two young children and injured their mother in Tronglaobi village of Bishnupur district early Tuesday morning. According to initial reports, a projectile believed to be a rocket was fired towards a civilian house in Moirang Tronglaobi. The explosive hit the house directly, causing a strong blast that led to the death of two siblings on the spot. The victims have been identified as a five-year-old boy and his five-month-old sister. Their mother sustained serious injuries and was rushed for medical treatment.

The impact of the explosion caused heavy damage to the house and created panic in the area. Villagers rushed to the spot soon after the blast and tried to rescue the family members trapped inside. The incident has left the entire locality in shock and grief. Local residents said the projectile may have been launched from nearby hill areas. They believe the firing point could be more than three kilometres away from the village. Tronglaobi is located along the sensitive hill-valley border in Bishnupur district, close to the higher regions of Churachandpur district. This area has seen repeated tension in recent months.

After the incident, security forces have increased their presence in and around the village. Additional personnel have been deployed to prevent any further violence. Search operations have also been started in nearby hill areas to track down those responsible.
