Security Forces Arrest Man with 1 Kg of Opium

On Sunday, security forces conducted multiple arrests in Imphal West and Imphal East districts of Manipur. Hefajuddin Mayangmayum, aged 42, was apprehended at Khuman Lampak Sports Complex with 1.002 kg of contraband opium. Authorities seized a mobile phone, Aadhaar Card, and ATM Card from him during the arrest. In a separate incident, Sagolshem Boicha Singh, also 42 and known as Tayai, was arrested in Laipham Khunou Mayai Leikai with illegal arms consisting of a .32 pistol, two magazines, and ten rounds of ammunition, in addition to a mobile phone and an Aadhaar card.

Furthermore, Kishan Chauhan, 29, was arrested at UCO Bank in Moreh after allegedly attempting to steal an air conditioning unit, sound box equipment, and electric batteries. Items previously reported stolen were recovered from him. Despite the establishment of a total of 115 checkpoints across various districts to enhance security, no additional detentions were reported.

Manipur Police issued a statement urging the public to refrain from believing rumors and to be cautious of false videos circulating online. They provided a contact number, 9233522822, for confirming the authenticity of any dubious media. Additionally, the police warned that sharing fabricated content could lead to legal repercussions. The public was encouraged to return any looted arms, ammunition, and explosives to the authorities or the nearest security personnel without delay.
