Security forces in Manipur have prevented 100 displaced individuals from returning Dolaithabi

Security forces in Manipur have prevented nearly 100 internally displaced persons (IDPs) from returning to their villages in Dolaithabi, located in the Imphal East district, as a precautionary measure aimed at averting any untoward incidents.

Dolaithabi, situated in a “sensitive fringe zone” and experiencing multiple attacks from the adjacent hill areas of Kangpokpi district, has been a focal point of ethnic violence since May 2023.

Currently, the district administration and senior police officials are in discussions with local leaders to seek a peaceful resolution. The situation is being maintained in a peaceful and controlled manner, with the overall law and order scenario being closely observed to ensure stability.

On February 13, the Centre implemented President’s rule in Manipur following the resignation of Chief Minister N Biren Singh in light of the ongoing violence.
