Security forces recover arms in Manipur, ensure safe passage on highways

Security forces have made significant recoveries of arms and ammunition across Manipur’s hill and valley districts. The operations, conducted in the Mongbung and Kashimpur Balijuri villages of Jiribam District, led to the seizure of two submachine carbines, two magazines, 199 empty shell casings, and an improvised explosive device, locally identified as a Pompi bomb.

The security forces also played a critical role in facilitating the movement of essential goods along the state’s major highways. Under stringent security, a convoy of 703 vehicles was safely escorted along National Highways NH-37 and NH-2, ensuring uninterrupted supply routes.

To maintain law and order, 113 checkpoints have been established across different districts. While no arrests were reported during these operations, the heightened vigilance is aimed at safeguarding the region and ensuring the free flow of essential supplies.
