Security Forces Recover Large Arms Haul in Manipur; 3 Militants Arrested

However, on Saturday, an IED weighing about 3 kg was found in Lanchingmanbi, Chingphei village under the Henglep Police Station in Churachandpur district, along with a rocket that contained about 100 kg of explosives, a sniper rifle with telescopic daylight scope, two domestic SBBLs, a 9 mm pistol with magazine, five 7.62 mm live rounds, and ten 12-bore cartridges.Security personnel found two.32 bore pistols with magazines, a 51 HE mortar bomb, two No. 36 hand grenades, 91 live rounds of various calibres, two.303 LMG magazines, a BAOFENG wireless set, seven BP plates, a BP helmet, a pistol holster, and a grenade during another operation at Kangaching Tellou under Lamlai Police Station, Imphal East on Saturday.Additionally, three militant groups’ active cadres were captured. According to police, Laishram Kullabi Meitei (35), also known as Ronel, an RPF/PLA cadre was apprehended from Liwa Road Kha Maibam Leikai, Imphal West. They confiscated two cell phones from him.

A KCP (Taibanganba) cadre named Tensubam Bangkim Singh (25), also called Chak-thekpa or Mangang Punshiba, was captured from Nambol Leitonjam Makha Leikai, Bishnupur. A cell phone and a 9 mm handgun with four live rounds were found by the authorities. Mahesh Sarangthem (19), an RPF/PLA cadre from Kairembikhok Maiyai Leikai, Thoubal, was detained at his home.The actions were a component of the state’s continuing counter-insurgency measures, which sought to neutralise militant threats and avert possible assaults.
