Six acres of poppy plantation destroyed in Manipur’s Kangpokpi

Security forces have destroyed six acres of illegal poppy plantation in Manipur’s Kangpokpi district, police said on Wednesday.The drive was conducted on a hill range between Khoripok and Sehjang villages in New Keithelmanbi police station area on Tuesday, a police officer said.

Poppy is used for producing opium and other highly addictive illegal drugs.”On 11.02.2025, Security Forces conducted destruction of illicit poppy cultivation at the hill range between Khoripok village and Sehjang village under New Keithelmanbi-PS, Kangpokpi District. During the destruction, approx. 6 acres of illicit poppy plants were destroyed,” Manipur Police said on X.
