The Department of Industries and Commerce, Government of Tripura, felicitated Shija Hospitals and Research Institute Pvt. Ltd. during the inaugural programme of the 36th Tripura Industries and Commerce Fair 2026, held on January 29 at the Hapania International Fair Ground, Agartala. The award was presented by Dr. Manik Saha, Chief Minister of Tripura. Santosh Shekhar, General Manager, Shija Hospitals, received the award on behalf of the organisation. The recognition was conferred in appreciation of Shija Hospitals’ valuable contribution to the economic development of Tripura, particularly its role in strengthening industrial growth, generating employment, and enhancing investor confidence in the state. The Government of Tripura noted that Shija’s sustained engagement has played a meaningful role in reinforcing the State’s investment ecosystem and advancing the vision of inclusive, resilient, and
sustainable development.
Shija Hospitals laid the foundation stone for a 700-bed Shija Super Specialty Hospital at R K Nagar, Agartala, on November 5, 2025. The multi-speciality and super-speciality hospital is planned to be implemented in four phases over a period of nine years. Once operational, the hospital is expected to significantly reduce medical migration and promote regional healthcare self-reliance. The new hospital, along with the envisioned academic ecosystem, reaffirms Shija’s commitment to compassionate care, collaborative growth, and affordable excellence in healthcare for every citizen. Shija Hospitals has also actively contributed to academic collaboration and capacity building in Tripura. A kidney transplant team from AGMC, Agartala, received structured training and hands-on experience at Shija Hospital. In addition, Continuing Medical Education programmes focusing on reconstructive techniques, trauma management, and post-burn rehabilitation were conducted at TMC and AGMC, facilitating meaningful knowledge
exchange among healthcare professionals. In collaboration with AGMC Agartala, the Shija transplant team successfully performed five kidney transplants in the state. Shija Hospitals expressed its sincere gratitude to the Government of Tripura for the recognition and reaffirmed its continued commitment to strengthening healthcare delivery, academic excellence, and sustainable development in the region.
