Sushanta Chowdhury, Tripura’s Food, Civil Supplies, and Consumer Affairs Minister, on Tuesday said the state government has intensified monitoring to ensure uninterrupted supply and price stability of essential commodities, including petrol, diesel, and LPG cylinders.
Addressing officials at a meeting held at the State Secretariat, the minister stated that the Food, Public Procurement, and Consumer Affairs Department is working proactively to maintain normal availability and prevent any artificial shortage in the market.
“The department is closely monitoring the availability and pricing of essential commodities in every district. Our priority is to ensure there is no disruption in supply and that common people do not face hardship,” Chowdhury said.
He emphasized that the government will take strict action against black marketing and hoarding of essential goods. “We will not allow any artificial crisis to be created. Strict vigilance is being maintained so that no trader can manipulate prices by spreading panic or creating shortages,” he asserted.
As a preventive step, the minister stated that necessary instructions have been issued to concerned officials to maintain constant surveillance over market trends. He warned that any irregularity or attempt to raise prices beyond reasonable levels would invite immediate legal action.
Chowdhury also directed officials to enhance coordination with district administrations and enforcement agencies to ensure transparency in supply chains and safeguard consumer interests across the state.
Reiterating the government’s commitment to protecting consumers, he said the administration remains fully alert to prevent black marketing and ensure that essential commodities remain accessible and affordable to all sections of society.
The move comes amid concerns over potential disruptions in supply chains, with the state government aiming to maintain market stability and public confidence through proactive monitoring and enforcement measures.
