On March 12 at about 5:50 p.m., reliable information was received regarding individuals involved in the distribution of narcotic drugs in the Yairipok Yambem area under Andro PS.
Accordingly, after obtaining authorization, a joint team of the ANTF Imphal East Unit and CDO/IE Unit conducted frisking and checking near the Yambem High School Gate under proper supervision.
During the operation, at 6:54 p.m., two persons riding a Honda Dio scooter (MN06SX5443) coming from Yairipok Ningthounai towards Yambem PHC were detained.
In search of the vehicle in the presence of a Gazetted Officer, one black plastic polyethylene bag concealed inside a green plastic polyethylene bag containing suspected brown sugar weighing approximately 1.04 kg (including packaging) was recovered from the toolbox.
The detained persons were identified as Md. Najimuddin (31 yrs) of Yairipok Ningthounai Mathak Leikai and Md. Jabir (27 yrs) of Yairipok Ningthounai, Imphal East.
Brown sugar (approximately 1.04 kg), mobile phones with SIM cards, and a Honda Dio scooter (MN06SX5443) were seized from their possession.
Both accused were arrested at about 7:05 p.m., and the seized items were taken into possession under Section 43 of the NDPS Act, 1985.
The arrested persons along with the seized items have been handed over to Andro Police Station for further legal action.
