On Monday, security forces apprehended two extortionists affiliated with RPF/PLA in the Yairipok Khoirom Mathak Leikai area of Thoubal district, as reported by Manipur Police. The individuals were identified as Yengkokpam Premchand, also known as Chingsangakpa, aged 26, and Moirangthem Naresh Singh, referred to as Chingsang, aged 30. Authorities recovered a scooter and three mobile phones from them.
Additionally, on the same day, security forces arrested Mayengbam Amitap Singh, alias Mukabala or Khaba, a S/S Sergeant Major of KCP (PWG), at Wabagai Thingel Leikai under Hiyanglam Police Station in Kakching district. A mobile phone was also seized from his possession.
To ensure the safe transportation of essential goods, the movement of 303 vehicles along NH-37 was facilitated. Comprehensive security protocols were implemented in vulnerable areas, including providing security convoys along sensitive routes. A total of 115 checkpoints, known as Nakas, were established across various districts, both in hilly terrains and the valley, resulting in the detention of five individuals.
