Vishwa Samvad Kendra (VSK) Manipur conducted a one-day workshop on news writing and photography at Bhaskar Prabha, Konjeng Leikai, Imphal West. With the growing influence of mobile journalism (MoJo) and citizen journalism in the digital era, the workshop aimed to enhance the reporting skills of participants using mobile devices. Resource person Mohen Naorem, journalist with India Today NE, encouraged participants to take up responsible reporting, stating, “Everyone can be a reporter today, but the mobile phone we carry should be used responsibly and purposefully for genuine journalism.” He highlighted that while smartphones empower citizens to share real-time information, maintaining media ethics, accuracy, and credibility is essential for effective journalism.
Participants from various parts of Manipur also took part in hands-on sessions under the guidance of the resource person, practicing news reporting on local issues through interactive exercises. During the inaugural session, RSS Assam Kshetra Karyawah Khwairakpam Rajen Singh explained that the Prachar Vibhag (Public Relations Department) of the RSS was established in 1982—about 60 years after the organization’s founding in 1925—to strengthen communication and outreach among diverse communities. Senior RSS Pracharak Laishram Jatra Singh also addressed the participants, noting that as RSS marks 100 years of its existence, the organization remains dedicated to its social responsibility initiatives and community-building efforts.
