Wall painting competition promotes road safety in Churachandpur

As part of the ongoing National Road Safety Month, the Churachandpur District Administration organised a wall painting competition on the theme “Road Safety”, engaging students from five schools in a creative campaign to promote safe driving practices. The competition, coordinated by the Zonal Education Officer and the CEO of the Autonomous District Council, Churachandpur, was held at Young Learners School, Children Training High School, Don Bosco Higher Secondary School, Chinkham Modern High School, and Sielmat Christian Higher Secondary School. Additional Deputy Commissioner Lalrobul Fimate, accompanied by Esther Chingneikim, ZEO, inspected the event and commended the students for their creativity. Using vibrant colours and imaginative designs, the young participants conveyed powerful messages on obeying traffic regulations, wearing seat belts, avoiding alcohol consumption while driving, and steering clear of distractions.

Fimate praised the students’ efforts, noting that their creativity could inspire broader community awareness. He encouraged them to carry the message of road safety into their homes and neighbourhoods, making it a collective responsibility. In alignment with the national initiative, the district has also rolled out a series of complementary activities across Churachandpur. Road safety drives are being conducted at multiple locations under the supervision of the Superintendent of Police and the Traffic Control Wing. These drives combine frisking operations with on-the-spot awareness sessions, focusing particularly on the importance of wearing helmets and adhering to the provisions of the Motor Vehicles Act.

Educational institutions organise essay and quiz competitions, encouraging students to engage with the theme of road safety and deepen their understanding of traffic norms. Meanwhile, the district has opened a short film contest to the general public, inviting submissions of ten-minute films centered on road safety. Winning entries will be selected by the District Administration, further amplifying the message through creative storytelling. The District Transport Officer has been tasked with overseeing the entire campaign, ensuring smooth coordination among departments and effective execution of each activity.
